Saudi End-of-Service Benefits (EOSB) Calculator 2026: Private & Government Sectors

Ratiby's End of Service Benefits calculator estimates your statutory gratuity when you leave a job in Saudi Arabia: whether through resignation, end of a fixed-term contract, or employer termination. It applies the tiered formula in Articles 84-87 of the Saudi Labor Law for the private sector, and the Civil Pension Law percentage formula (14% / 10%) for the government sector, so both Saudi employees and expats can plan their exit with confidence.

How to Use the EOSB Calculator

  1. Enter your last monthly wage: basic salary plus fixed allowances (housing, transport).
  2. Input your years and months of continuous service with the same employer.
  3. Select the reason for leaving: resignation or end of contract / termination.
  4. Review the base gratuity, the applicable entitlement percentage, and the final payout.

The Saudi End of Service Formula Explained

Step 1: The Base Gratuity

  • First five years: half month's wage per year of service.
  • Each additional year beyond five: one full month's wage.
  • Partial months: prorated against the applicable annual rate.

Example: SAR 10,000 wage × 7 years = (5 × 5,000) + (2 × 10,000) = SAR 45,000.

Step 2: Resignation Entitlement Scale

  • Less than 2 years of service: no entitlement.
  • 2 to under 5 years: one-third (1/3) of the base gratuity.
  • 5 to under 10 years: two-thirds (2/3).
  • 10+ years: full 100% of the base gratuity.

Step 3: Termination or End of Fixed-Term Contract

The worker receives 100% of the base gratuity regardless of tenure, unless the termination falls under Article 80 (dismissal for cause, which cancels the entitlement).

Government Sector: Civil Pension Law Formula

Saudi government employees fall under the Civil Pension Law rather than the Labor Law. End-of-service gratuity is computed as a flat percentage of the annual salary multiplied by years of service:

  • Standard end of service: 14% × annual salary × years.
  • Resignation or disciplinary dismissal: 10% × annual salary × years.
  • Annual salary: monthly basic salary × 12.

Example: SAR 10,000 × 10 years × 14% × 12 = SAR 168,000.

Eligibility: the lump-sum gratuity applies to civil servants whose service ends before they qualify for a pension. Employees with 25+ years of service receive a monthly pension instead.

Why Use This Calculator Before You Resign

  • Exit planning: know the exact payout before signing a new offer or leaving KSA.
  • Tenure timing: see how waiting past the 5-year or 10-year mark changes your gratuity.
  • Settlement verification: check the employer's final settlement against the legal formula.
  • Expat repatriation budgeting: forecast your end-of-service lump sum for relocation.

Frequently Asked Questions

How are End of Service Benefits (EOSB) calculated in Saudi Arabia?

Under Saudi Labor Law Articles 84-87, EOSB is calculated as half a month of the last wage for each of the first five years of service, plus a full month of wage for each subsequent year. Partial years are prorated by months. The final amount may then be adjusted by a factor depending on how the contract ended.

What is the difference between resignation and termination for end of service pay?

If the employer terminates the contract (other than under Article 80), the employee receives 100% of the calculated gratuity regardless of tenure. For a voluntary resignation, a sliding scale applies: nothing for less than 2 years, one-third for 2 to under 5 years, two-thirds for 5 to under 10 years, and full entitlement after 10 years of service.

Which components of my salary are used for the EOSB calculation?

The calculation is based on the last full wage the worker was receiving, which includes the basic salary and fixed regular allowances such as housing and transport. Variable components like commissions, performance bonuses, or one-off payments are generally excluded.

Do expats and non-Saudi employees get end of service benefits in KSA?

Yes. End of Service Benefits apply to all private-sector workers in Saudi Arabia under the Labor Law, regardless of nationality. Saudi nationals and foreign expats are entitled to the same gratuity formula when their contract falls under the KSA Labor Law.

What happens if I resign before completing two years?

Under Article 85 of the Saudi Labor Law, a worker who resigns voluntarily is not entitled to any end of service gratuity if the continuous service period is less than two years. However, if the employer terminates the contract, the gratuity is paid in full regardless of tenure.
